What is the best US bank for access to ATMs in Europe and the Middle East?
I had a bad experience in Egypt with ATMS not be a part of my credit union’s system. Which bank in the USA can I set up an account in with the best chance of it being part of a system in Europe and Egypt?
don’t know about all those countries , but in Arabia they use the Plus system cards, (& Visa electron, MC Maestro) some may accept cirrus but not sure which. It’d be easier to just get a prepaid visa cash card , as that one is even accepted everywhere Visa is , even with manual carbon copy sales.
You can try your luck with HSBC or CitiBank.
US Capital Markets vs Foreign Capital Markets?
What are the benefits of the US capital market vs other capital markets, including those in developing nations and in Europe? I’ve heard that the US capital market is better because of reporting requirements and regulations, but I’m not really sure this is the reason why. I’ve also heard that there are more IPOs in US vs Europe and of course in developing countries you don’t know if the government might collapse sometime. What do you think?
Even with a stable government, the key to high-quality capital market is the enforcement of regulations. Can you imagine investing your money in a company then the executives steal it, and bribes the government and get away with it?
I need to explain the gold standard and addresses the functions of the world’s major foreign exchange markets?
I have to write a lecture
Basically the gold standard is a form of monetary policy. The US was on the gold standard for a long period of time.. I believe it was during the Nixon administration when the change was made. During this time, for every federal reserve note (which we know as US dollar bills) is backed by some gold in reserve (think of Fort Knox). Afterall, it’s much easier carrying dollar bills and change around than gold bars! The problem however came to the value of gold. Since the majority of the gold was mined in Africa, and they knew of the world’s dependence on it, they would increase prices for this raw material. We needed to increase money supply, but we needed to secure more gold before we could do that (since money is backed by gold). Technically, the government could have just printed more bills, however, each bill would be backed by less and less gold and would thus create inflation.
Just in case you needed to know, we are currently in a "Mixed Policy" type of Monetary Policy plan. In this plan, the tool used isn’t Gold, but rather the interest Rate.
As far as the functions of the world’s major foreign exchange markets, I’m not all that quite sure what you mean.
How did the U.S. financial markets do today? How did foreign markets do today? Are they related?
U S markets did ok today. Foreign markets for the most part did even better. China is really hot up 3x the U S markets. Also Soul.

How should stocks and bonds be left? to a benificary or to the estate?
if a person have stocks and bonds and personal accounts should they be left to a beneficary or just pput in the will as a part of the estate.?
If they are part of the estate, they will have to go through probate, which costs money. It is to your advantage to leave them directly to a beneficiary. Also if they are in the estate, they may have to be liquidated to satisfy all the parties of the will which means delay in settling and transaction costs.
How long would I need to invest in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds before I see any earnings?
I just started getting interested in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc… and I want to know how long before I will see any earnings off my investments? I want to invest at least $2000 and would like to gain enough to open up a business. Would I have to wait a month? 6 months? 1 year? 5 years? Exactly how long? Thanks.
I need maybe 20-25 thousand to open the business.
You can see profits or losses immediately but a good decent amount of gains will need about a year to happen.
