@solidysnake1 why …
@solidysnake1 why do you think that in a complete free market only a few (the rich) would have access to healthcare and schools? I’m not necc arguing, but asking. For example, it might be true that the super rich will have access to the most expensive medical care, that doesn’t mean perfectly good care can’t be bought by those with lower income. I don’t own a BMW, I cant afford one now, but I still have a good car that does its job. Why should health, which is a service and product be diffrnt?
no government …
no government control is just as bad as total government control.
Under complete free market, only few(means the rich) have access to healthcare and schooling, ie Europe in the period of pure capitalism.
There are some problems that can’t be solved by the free market system.
Friedman likes to use hong kong as a model of freemarket. but does he knows hongkong has national socialized health care, government public housing for majority of citizens and 9 years free education ?
Yeah, this smarmy …
Yeah, this smarmy Galbraith douche uses logical fallacies, begging the question, strawmen, to attempt to win the argument.
he destroyed him. …
he destroyed him. Hong Kong has risen so rapidly in the last 30 years since they became freer. They have almost no debt, a ridiculous GDP per capita despite the fact that they have no natural resources except a nice harbor.
At 5:30 in the clip …
At 5:30 in the clip when Galbraith says he failed to make the difference between the communist governments, in his case China, and our own government, you can’t compare a “government” to “free market” because they’re adbsent of each other. Likewise, the pencil comparison earlier of how it was made freely and used in everyday life, vs. a central commissary issuing orders, shows how government lacks intiative due to the absense of necessity and competition and is therefor blind to progress.
Galbraith is a …
Galbraith is a typical smug, liberal, college professor/indoctrinator douche bag.
I think it’s funny …
I think it’s funny how James Galbraith leans with a 20 degree list to port while he talks. Is his left arm that heavy?
Why did the format …
Why did the format change to the talking heads sitting around a table?
I’m here to listen to Friedman… not the other two goofs.

I have never liked someone that both asks a question, and then answers it in the same breath.

that guy that debated milty will probably soon see his american dictator, our federal government is more intrusive than many people believe. to say that it is the free market that brought us here is a complete misunderstanding of what has happened up to this point.

lenaisapunkrocker: “Krampfarsch is most certainly…”
Ok, you seem to understand what Kram is saying, which I didn’t.
So tell me, what’s the big problem he’s talking about that didn’t existed in the beginning but the government created later as it grew bigger ?
Example?
Krampfarsch is most …
Krampfarsch is most certainly right. Laziness and failure to see that the free market helped them become wealthy and successful.

because with the …
because with the FREE MARKET capitalism comes wealth to a country. when there are enough wealthy people, most of them dont understand that there wealth was created by the free market. therefor they give up the free market because they THINK its better if goverment takes care of some tiny problems. but instead, the goverment grows and grows and create bigger problmens which wouldnt exist without the interference in the market in the first place.

I’m a big “fan” of …
I’m a big “fan” of friedmans theory and big fan of widely understanded freedom. I also agree that people are egoistic and pursue their own interests. But I can’t totally agree with friedman, that their actions are always good for the society and market. They are, if they’re not connected with government, if they are they do harm. I can’t understand how friedman could just ignore that. The worst is that there is no efficient way of protecting government from people, because all of them are selfish

In the beginning of the capitalism, there was no regulation.
Why it didn’t stay that way?
