why is the banking system in naia are useless for travelers?
i tried to withdraw somw money from the atm in nais but its empty.so i went to the front counter of allied trust bank and i could not withdraw money from them bcoz i dont have an account from them .so what is the point of having a bank inside naia if they could not cater for a tourist like me.i have a legittimate papers to show them but could not help us.with the latest tech available for them surely they could cerify my account from overseas.i guessed they are useless afterall
I am ashamed to admit that I agree. The banks at the NAIA Terminal 1 is and continues to be useless.
I also have to agree that the airport is down. We have the new NAIA Terminal 3 but because of a legal battle the big, mall-like airport with first-class amenities is not yet open, 3 years now. It makes me shrink to think about this!
In other countries, bank counters at the airports exchange major currencies 24/7. They have running 100% ATM machines with various links, Visa, MasterCard, Cirrus and others.
WHy don’t you write, why dont we write the NAIA administration to wake them up. If they want the Philippines to be a tourist destination, tourists and Filipinos alike must feel welcomed and be impressed the moment they set foot in the country. And what a great way to impress them by showing them, our airports are not far from major international airports in the world.
NAIA, wake up!
actually it is not just their banking system thats useless. THE ENTIRE NAIA is practically useless.

When you are using your ATM card to withdraw money from any ATM machine in the Philippines (not only inside NAIA) you make sure that your bank has a link with the Philippine Banking Networks. Try to read what network that the machine can able to read and connect to you foreign ATM account. Example…. Bancnet, Megalink, Cirrus and etc. You can check and read the warning sign of the bank networks inside and outside the booth of the ATM machine. Please check this out first and for the meantime use your Credit card.

yeah it sucks, only accept "Bancnet" cards, oh there is one near Domestic area where there is Mastercard but guess what it doesn’t work either!
I’m a Filipino and it’s not only tourist they are affecting inconveniently.
Sorry for the disappointment it cause you..there is a lot of good things in the Philippines though…although I believe the airport is the door of our country

I agree with you.. My experience was at least 5 years back and I though that it changed already but I guess that I’m wrong.. They are still useless. Hard to imagine if someone is flying out and ran out of currency of either pesos or dollars, or whatever currency they had before.. I was just grateful that there are still people that are genuinely helpful. I ran out of dollars and pesos on my way out of the Philippines from a month of vacation.. I tried take out some money from the ATM but it did not work.. They said that the machine is down.. What a waste of electricity…tsk.. Anyways, I miscalculated the OFW fees because I still have a Filipino passport at that time and the terminal fees.. I was 150 pesos short and they do not accept credit or debit cards… The janitors, front desk agents, security guards, and bell hops all pitched in to give me 150 pesos.. I regret that I lost their names that I wrote on a piece of paper but I would like everybody to know that the system is bad there but the people are good…
